terrybarnaby Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Does anyone know how to change the headlight beam direction for driving on thecontinent ?I have a 2002 new shape 2.3 Galaxy with the clear lens headlights and the manualsays take the car to a dealer to get the direction changed ! Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 They will just stick black tape over the lights in the shape outlined on the TIS CD, unless you have Xenons in which case there is a hidden lever that they move. Don't expect too much - we are talking Ford dealers after all! Quote
terrybarnaby Posted May 28, 2004 Author Report Posted May 28, 2004 Cheers for the reply,.Yes, the car has Xeon lights with clear lenses. So I need to move this hidden lever ...Does anyone know where this lever is and where it should be moved. Quote
terrybarnaby Posted May 29, 2004 Author Report Posted May 29, 2004 Hi I talked to Ford about this, they stated that the car had to be taken to a dealerto get the lever moved. It is to dangerous for "joe public" to do it ...So I would have to drive illegally in this country getting to the Ferry or illegally in France ! Since then I have found that Halfords now do Headlamp beam defelctors for cars withclear plastic lenses and seem to include Xeon lights. I will be using these. Why doesn't the car's manual, Ford and my local Ford dealers know how to do this I don't know ... Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 I read that the self leveling system on the HIDs needs to be reset if its disconnected! this is done by plugging in the diagnostic machine, this could be why they say its a dealer only job as you may have to remove the headlight to flick the lever? have you thought about removeing one of the head lights and seeing if you can locate the lever? the headlights only held in place by four screws so it should come out fairly easily! as long as you dont unplug it you should be ok! possibly the other reason for it being a dealer only job is the high voltages used to operate the lamps! Denis Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 High voltages? What voltage is used on the headlights? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Voltages of 20/30KV are used as an ignition voltage to strike an arc! fancy getting that up your armpit! Quote
